If you need a sworn translation, you are in the right place!
We have sworn translators recognised by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This translator's job is to officially certify that an original document and the translation of that document say the same thing. In some ways, a sworn translator is like a notary.
WHEN DO I NEED A SWORN TRANSLATION?
A sworn translation is required for documents written in another language that must be legally valid before an official body. A sworn translation will always bear the stamp and signature of the sworn translator, and it is officially recognised by the authorities.
Sworn translators certify that the translation is true and accurate by means of their stamp, signature and apostille.
They give it the official status required by the public or private body requesting it.
SOME EXAMPLES OF SWORN TRANSLATIONS
- Medical certificates
- Court judgments
- Criminal records
- Patent certificates
- Annual accounts
- Company agreements
- Powers of attorney
- Court judgments
- Deeds of incorporation
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN SWORN TRANSLATION AND THE LEGAL TRANSLATION?
Those who are unfamiliar with the terminology may confuse these two terms: sworn translation and legal translation. While they have many aspects in common, sworn translation and legal translation are completely different. Let's take a look.
Legal translation applies to the translation of documents that are legal by nature, for example tenders, contracts, regulations, power of attorney, etc. This type of translation is quite complex, as the translator must have a deep knowledge of legal concepts, while also knowing the laws and procedures of the two legal systems: those of the country of the original text and those of the recipient's country.
Literal translations are no good as these are documents with real legal content. The legal translator must understand the concepts and meanings and include everything in the correct legal context.
When we talk about sworn translation, we mean the translation of documents where the translation has true legal value. In other words, translations carried out by sworn translators are not just private translations, but hold an official value and must be accompanied by the stamp and signature of the official translator. A sworn translation can only be carried out by a sworn translator.
Sworn translators are accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, have their own identification number, and can only carry out sworn translations in the languages the ministry has assigned to them.
